WEDNESDAY DAYTIME MIXED ABILITY CLASSES

This sewing class caters for all skill levels, complete beginners are welcome

Course Overview

Our Wednesday daytime course is a mixed ability sewing class, meaning you can join with any skill level. Once you have got your confidence up, you can move onto any project you would like. We often have a theme each term, which you can choose to follow or bring your own make. There can be a real variety of projects happening any given week.

Spaces go quickly so book in soon.

 

What You Will Learn

The below list explains what a new beginner will learn. For intermediate and advanced sewers there will be a similar level of detail that can be taught.

  • How to thread up a machine

  • How to work with different fabrics

Beginners Info:

We have everything you need for your first project. We take all beginners through the process of making a tote bag, and provide all the materials needed. Your tutor will give you 1 to 1 guidance and always be on hand to help. So just turn up and we will guide you every step of the way. The class is very friendly and welcoming to new comers, so you will feel at home.

If you have never sewn before, you are in the right place.

What to bring:

  • We provide a sewing machine - Or bring your own.

  • We have some sample fabrics for your first project.

  • We provide all sewing tools and essentials - Or bring your own.

  • Our sewing lessons for adults include a variety of creative sewing projects tailored to different skill levels. Projects range from making personalised bags and cushions to simple clothing items. Each project teaches valuable techniques such as pattern reading, fabric cutting, and finishing touches, helping you develop a wide range of skills.   • Each sewing workshop runs for 2–2.5 hours during the daytime. This gives you enough time to focus on learning techniques, experimenting with fabrics, and completing parts of your sewing projects. The sessions also include time for personalised tips and troubleshooting any challenges you may face.   • While we provide essential tools and basic supplies, bringing your own fabrics allows you to create truly personalised projects. The tutor will advise on choosing suitable fabrics, threads, and patterns to match your project goals. This makes each sewing course highly flexible and tailored to your interests.

  • Yes! These sewing lessons for adults cater to all abilities. If you already have some experience, you can build on your existing skills by exploring more advanced techniques, experimenting with creative sewing projects, or learning more efficient ways to complete tasks. Everyone works at their own pace.

  • Our sewing workshops are small and friendly, usually 6–8 people per session. This ensures personalised attention, a relaxed atmosphere, and more opportunities to ask questions. Smaller classes are ideal for adult sewing classes because you can progress at your own pace while still feeling part of a supportive group.

  • Yes! You can often join our sewing courses mid-term, subject to availability. The tutor will help you catch up on creative sewing projects already in progress and provide guidance to ensure you can keep up with the rest of the class. This flexibility makes it easier for adults with busy schedules to join.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Avoid loose sleeves or jewellery that could get caught in the sewing machine. Comfortable attire ensures you can focus on your sewing projects without distraction. Aprons are optional but recommended for protecting your clothes during creative sewing projects.

  • Yes! Each sewing workshop offers one-to-one support so you can successfully complete every stage of your projects. Tutors provide tips on fabric selection, pattern adjustments, and finishing techniques. By the end of the course, you’ll not only have completed several creative sewing projects but also gained the confidence and skills to continue sewing independently.
